New experiences in old settings

Today, Camp Adventure is housed in one of Gisselfeld Gods' nine farms, Brødebækgaard. The farm used to house both pig and cattle sheds, but today forms the framework for Camp Adventure's reception, farm shop, food stalls, premises etc.

The farmhouse was built in 1877 by a countess from Gisselfeld. The water mill next to it was built in the 1500th century, and is thus the oldest building in Gisselfeld. Originally there were three water mills on the stretch by Brødebækken, but one burned down and over time the other did not produce enough energy and was shut down.

Until the 1940s, the water mill at Camp Adventure produced energy for the machines at Brødebækgaard. The residents of the surrounding towns, Rønnede and Vester Egede, drove to the mill to have their grain ground. Over time, the farmhouse has housed the owner or lessee of Brødebækgaard and the miller lived with his family in the mill house.

Have you seen our fine, old water mill?
